On the second day, my mission is to lend a hand to the owner to make a preparations as the next day would be so hectic, they invented Annual Charity Bazaar. We clean the dining hall, playground etc.
2. Kam Wei Cong (SIQ180012)
IC: 990510017781
This was the preparation before the main event "Charity Bazaar". We were all very excited. The biggest reward was that we learned how to set up a place for an big event involving thousands of people, and the experience we gained was something that couldn't be learned in lecture hall.
3.Janet Wong Chia Wen (SIQ180011)
IC : 990209136132
Same as the first time, we cleaned Rumah Charis after briefing. We washed the toilet and moped the place. The difference is we did not need to teach the children but we need to prepare for the Charity Bazaar. We moved the unnecessary things and arranged the tables for the bazaar. I learned to be cooperative because we need to work together in order to get things done for example moving the table from upstairs to the place for bazaar.
4. Haikal Irfan Bin Azuan Aziz Kasim (SIQ180010)
IC : 990828105933
We did not know specially what to help out in since we were not in charge of that. And the work was mostly preparing for the event on the morrow. But overall we had to prepare with the kids and it was really enjoyable
5. Marchello (SIQ180702)
IC : B1429644
The next time we came here is to help the committees of Rumah Charis to prepare the bazaar that will be held on the next day. We started the day by cleaning off the whole orphanage, started by sweeping the oor, mopping, brushing and cleaning the toilets, cleaning the playgrounds, and much more. We were divided into tasks among the group, different for each person. It finished very quickly as we do have a lot of manpower. After cleaning the whole house, there were not much to do left as the stocks and standees for the bazaar have not arrived yet. One of the committee lady told us to go get some lunch as we have not eaten since the morning. Then, we proceed to go to Murni to get some food to ll our empty stomachs. I feel very delighted during the whole lunch, I feel like we really bonded as a team. We get to talked a lot about many things, exchanging our opinions about our values in life, and much more! The lunch went so quickly that it was already time to head back to Rumah Charis. The moment we came back, we saw a lot of cars and trucks nearby. They started to load the items they were going to sell at the bazaar. Most boys were told to move and bring down the tables from upstairs to the main space. It was definitely very tiring, as there were a lot of tables to take. After that, we were told to put the vegetables and fruits into little plastic bags. There were onions, kiwis, cabbages, carrots, and much more. The children of Rumah Charis also helped us doing so. After finishing all the work, we were dismissed. From the second day, I learned about hard work and teamwork. There may be things that are hard going on in our lives, and there might be moments where we thought that we would not be able to pull through, but that’s what friends are for right? As long as we got our friends, it makes us feel like we are not alone. It will cheer us up. Teamwork is also important. A lot of things would be done much easier and faster with a lot of people doing it at the same time. Of course, we need a leader who would operate and command us to do things accordingly.

On April 26, 2019 we came back to the Rumah Charis to continue our Rumah Charis project. We came earlier than on the previous Friday. at 8:00 a.m. I and the others were given the task of cleaning the hall on the third floor. After cleaning the hall, we assisted the Rumah Charis coordinator in preparing the bazaar which will be held on April 27, 2019. My friend and I moved many items such as a drink table chair to the ground floor. in the afternoon we grouped food into plastic bags for sale such as carrots, apples, and vegetables. I was very happy because the children who were there helped me and my relationship with the children was getting tougher

We have preparation for charity bazaar which will be held in day 3. Nt only helping out in preparing the road signs and price labels, but we help in the booth set up and arrangement of items. It may seem easy when we visit a bazaar but in fact a lot of procedures and preparations are needed behind the scene and fortunately I was given to chance to participate in this charity bazaar which I learn of the elements that we need to take care in an event including security and safety of the event, ow of the programmes and others.
8.Cheong Kah Ken (SIQ180007)
IC : 990513025111
We went to Rumah Charis for the second time for the preparation of "Charity Bazaar", which is the main event to raise fund for Rumah Charis. I found this part interesting as I was instructed to set up different booths which I had never try before! I learnt to become a follower by listening the instructions given by the person in charge. I also learnt to be tolerate when some people were verbally rude to me.
9. Muhammad Shahir Bin Shuhaidi (SIQ180024)
IC : 990308106297
On Day 2 , I learn to organize work properly during the Bazaar Preparation. It is important to have communication with team members to ensure a smooth ow of the task that is being assigned. I also get to learn the place (Rumah Charis) better in which it will be useful for me to think of the strategies on conducting the game booth later , which is tomorrow.
10. Zulaikha Aqila binti zainal abidin (SIQ180507)
IC : 990916106442
We were helping the managers of Rumah Charis to prepare for the bazaar held at the house on the next day by cleaning up the house, arranging the tables needed for the booths, arranging the stuffs that they were selling, cleaning the toilet so the guests would feel comfortable and more. From this, i learned that being sincere is important when we’re lending a help for other people. When we are sincere, the outcome will be perfect. I also learned that being responsible for the task given out to us is vital. We handled the furnitures carefully to ensure that no damages would occur.
11. Elyssa syahada jamaludin (SIQ180043)

Day 2 was basically the preparation day for the Rumah Charis Charity. At rst, our team members were divided into few groups to clean up the toilets and a few areas where the booths would be set up. Due to our previous experience, we finished the task smoothly without any problems. After lunch, we helped to set up tables and to arrange some goodies. This experience is very memorable because most of us have got to learn how the preparation work was like for organising a bazaar which was expecting thousands of visitors. Other than that, we also worked together with the children from Rumah Charis to pack the vegetables such as tomatoes and carrots into plastic bags so that they are easier to be sold. We have had a great time together. The activities truly foster the bond not only between our coursemates but also between us and the children and also the staffs.
13 .Phoon Xue Liang (SIQ180031)
IC : 990201085617
The main activity today involved preparation for the bazaar day. At rst we cleaned up the compound of Rumah Charis as many visitors were visiting the place on the event day. The problem we faced were the instructions were not given in a very clear picture so some of us do not have work to do at that particular moment. However, we managed to distribute our task equally among the team members. For example, girls would help in decorating and setting up the booths while boys mostly help in carrying tables and chairs. I realized the importance of collaboration between one another when working in a team.
14. Ahmad Syahmi bin Ahmad Rastam (SIQ180001)
IC : 000108140217
I observe that everyone had a job to do for the preparation of the charity bazaar. We helped prepare everything that is needed and combined energy very well. We also had time to teach the children some stuff using the laptop to give them a greater insight on technology. The only barrier was language barrier. The ones who cannot converse well in Chinese had a bit of hard time communicating with the kids.
15. Adam Haiqal bin Azrail (SIQ180042)
IC : 99120145039
On this day, we had to clean up almost the whole house for the charity bazaar which will be on the next day. I was tasked to clean the toilets of the children. Then, we also clean the living hall. After lunch we were supposed to set the bazaar area but it was pouring. So we were given a different task which was to prepare items that will be sold tomorrow by the host. It was a less tiring day than i expected it would be as the rain limited our work.

Everything went well on the second day of our visitation to Rumah Charis. So on this day, we helped the staff to prepare for the next day Charity Bazaar. The person in charge for this Charity Bazaar is Mr. Andrew. My friends and I help out to clean the area that will be use for the bazaar. Then, we helped to pack the veges into plastic bags. Oh ya, not to mention, Rumah Charis will be selling different types of veges, stationery, clothing, bags, food and beverages and etc. during Charity Bazaar. Basically, we arranged it according to the categories. It is also a pleasure that our supervisor, Dr. Amizah came to see us today Apart from that, we were assigned into different team for the next day Charity Bazaar. I am in Team Awesome, and our responsibility is to help the visitors navigate to the correct directions at Rumah Charis. To conclude, everything went well on our second day of Social Engagement and I could feel that our bond with the staff and the children are getting closer.

Day 2 was the preparation day for the ‘Bazaar’. Today was quite similar to day 2 but the tasks were a lot and even heavier than before. I had a lot of fun cleaning the Rumah Charis, packing the household items and groceries for the ‘Bazaar’ and organising the tables and chairs in an orderly manner. Although everyone was tired after doing all the tasks, we were satisfied and relieved as all our efforts were worth it. I once again learnt that teamwork and good communication skills will make a difficult task to be get done in no time. Due to working together in groups, we managed to save a decent amount of time so we had more time to mingle around and be friendly with the orphans.

On our 2nd day of our project , which is on 26th of April 2019 , we managed to arrive at the house on time following the schedule. This day , we help up for Rumah Charis Charity Bazaar preparation. We started with cleaning up the are of house . Starting this day our bonding between the team member become more closer and also with the friendly committee of Rumah Charis. As some of them gave instructions in mandarin language, our team member that understands it will help to translate the meaning for thos who can't understand. I love how the bonding of the team member become closer day by day since we need each other to support our back. And the preparation day had a lot of fun too because the kids also helping us to pack all the stuff that will be sell for the next day. They're all so friendly , but im still having a bit of difficulties to communicate with some of the kids since they keep avoiding to communicate in English . But luckily they are also some of the kids are comfortable and can communicate well in English and helped me a lot to understand a few words in mandarin . And it's so fun and interesting . It is a good experience , while helping them , I also gain knowledge to learn .

In the blink of eye, it was already our second visit to Rumah Charis Home for the Children. We did some clean up at the first floor of the children’s home while the committee members of Rumah Charis were conducting a short meeting. This time, we had learnt the lesson from our last visit. Therefore, we were armed with more cleaning equipment such as mops, pails and old cloths to make sure we could complete our community service independently without burdening the children’s home. I helped to mop the floor of the children’s meeting room and cleaned the glass sliding door at the balcony. We also rearranged the scattered books and encyclopaedias in the children’s mini library and filtered out the books that were too tattered from the library to be recycled. After a short lunch break, we started to help out in the preparation of bazaar. As the charity home lacks volunteers, they need us to arrange the tables, unpack the stocks and arrange them at the stalls to be sold on the next day. While arranging the items for sale, we tried to take note of the structured plan of the bazaar, including the location of each stall so that we were able to guide the customers to their desired location on the bazaar day. One of the problems we faced was, the venue of the bazaar was muddy as a result of heavy rain. As a solution, we decided to spread some cardboard and waterproof plastics on the muddy ground. Besides, I also helped Mr. Andrew to prepare a softcopy of the bazaar plan to ease the management of the charity event. Although we did not have any tutorial session with the children today, we still got the opportunity to meet them as they were willing to help out in the bazaar preparation too. I was surprised that my mentees could recognize me and still remembered my name! They also told me that they missed our tutorial sessions together and hoped to have more homework sessions in the future. Somehow, I had a sense of satisfaction, that I finally built a stronger bonding with small children. It was something that I had never experienced before. I hoped that our charity event would receive great response and support from volunteers of all walks of life so that bazaar would run smoothly on the next day.

It surprises me how many people has shown their love and support for the orphans. It was also a delight having the children helping around
